Please join the Tenderloin Museum, Code Tenderloin and SF Recovery Theatre in honoring our beloved Tenderloin community member and dear friend, Pam Coates.
The Tenderloin Museum is hosting a memorial to celebrate Pam’s life on Wednesday, December 8th, from 5 pm - 7 pm. The memorial celebration will feature music by SF Recovery Theatre and remarks by Del Seymour.
Pam Coates was a long-time friend of the Tenderloin Museum and was a longstanding pillar in the Tenderloin Community. As one of our original tour guides, she led countless visitors, school groups, and locals on the incredible Tenderloin history walking tour. She was a fantastic tour guide; everyone who spoke to her became excited about the Tenderloin and its history. Pam was a vital member of our Tenderloin community; she lived for many years at the Boyd Hotel, performed regularly with SF Recovery Theatre, and served on the board of directors of the Tenderloin Housing Clinic.
Pam was born in Cornwall, England in 1950, and was passionate about performing. She was an exceptional singer, and performer, who had an amazing voice and an equally amazing ability to connect with her audience. She started her career in 1964 at The National Youth Theatre and received her degree from the University of Southampton, for acting. Pam was cast in the original Rocky Horror Picture Show with Tim Curry and shared her gifts with the many people she came in contact with.
Thank you Pam for your many contributions to the Tenderloin neighborhood, and for championing the beauty and resilience of the Tenderloin community. We will miss you terribly.
