Sunday Streets are events that encourage recreation, community activities and fun in San Francisco. Sunday Streets closes stretches of city streets to automobile traffic, and opens them to people for several hours on various Sundays throughout the year, so participants can enjoy a large, temporary, public space where they can bike, walk, run, dance, do yoga, or do any other physical activity. Non-profit and health organizations offer free activities and share information about their services during the event.

The Tenderloin Sunday Streets will transform a mile of streets in the heart of the Tenderloin into neighborhood streets and community space on Sunday, July 10 from 11am to 4pm. The route includes the following streets: Fulton St between Hyde and Larkin, Larkin to Ellis St, Ellis to Jones St, Jones to Golden Gate Ave, and Golden Gate Ave to Larkin St.

This densely populated neighborhood houses the highest number of families with children, has one of the highest rates of car-free households, and has the least amount of park space per capita in San Francisco. Few neighborhoods make a better case for transforming streets into recreational space for playing and building community.

The Tenderloin Museum will be at Sunday Streets with artist Raphael Villet. A San Francisco raised artist, Raphael has exhibited his work throughout the Bay Area including the Oakland Museum of California, Adobe Books of San Francisco and the San Francisco Arts Commission City Hall Gallery. He really likes creating a space for a diversity of voices to come together through art and will launch hist Street Zines exhibit at the Tenderloin Museum in October.
