On Sept 24, the Tenderloin Museum will host the SF Recovery Theater’s original jazz musical, Night at the Blackhawk. Part of an ongoing series reflecting on the lives and stories of the artists, musicians, and residents that lived in the shadow of the Blackhawk Jazz Club, this Thursday evening event with feature special guest jazz guitarist Spencer Barefield.

Lead by Geoffrey Grier the SF Recovery Theater is a Tenderloin organization that aims to provide a space where people of different cultures, races and religious backgrounds can feel valued and safe. While many people are still battling substance abuse, mental health, or housing problems, the SF Recovery Theater up to the challenge of assisting those in need to build healthier lives, while simultaneously enriching the city's culture through music..
About the Blackhawk:
The Blackhawk was a jazz club that operated in the Tenderloin from 1949-1963. This renowned cultural institution hosted the likes of Miles Davis, Billie Holiday, Charlie Parker, Jon Coltrane and many many others.
Join us for an evening of celebrating the Tenderloin’s past, and investing in a healthy future for all our residents.
$10-20 suggested donation (must RSVP to attend).
